 All of our 80-82 Dana Corvette differentials are shipped with new ring and pinion gearsets, new bearings, clutch packs and refurbished stub axles. As with our Eaton differentials, we offer REM coating on the gearsets as well as an option specific to racing applications. Our Dana 44 differentials are shipped with a rear cover gasket. If you order a rear cover for your 80-82, it will be shipped in a separate box.Of course we would like to have your old Dana differential core, and will pay you for it if its rebuildable. Our shipping boxes are designed to survive a round trip, so you can use it if you choose to send your old diff back to us.

We recommend REM treating the ring and pinion. REM treatment is a physicochemical process that utilizes high density, non abrasive ceramic media and vibratory finishing equipment. REM treatment removes microscopic surface imperfections that are inherent in any machining process. The resultant part looks as if it is chrome plated, but nothing is added to the part’s surface. The gears run cooler and last longer.

We can't make the aluminum case Dana differential as tough as the iron case Eaton that came in the 65-79's. The Eaton carrier is just way stronger, and the ring and pinion is designed to handle much more power. If you are thinking about putting big horsepower in your 80-82, this may be your best choice. This part number includes everything you need to switch from the Dana to the Eaton but the Eaton differential itself. You keep your Dana batwing / rear cover. You can select an Eaton differential from either the 63-79 Differential page or the Racing Corvette Parts, Engine and Driveline page. Send us your old Dana differential, half shaft assemblies and spindle flanges, and we will buy them as cores. |

Remember, this does not include the differential, which you need to buy separately. You keep your batwing - it does not come in the kit. You will get a gasket with the differential and the proper bolts to secure the differential to your batwing. We will provide a transition U-Joint to go between your stock driveshaft and your new pinion yoke. If you have a non-standard driveshaft U-joint, let us know!

There are no conventional springs with a Dana Clutch Pack. The preload comes from a convex Bellview spring, which is included in this set. Installing this clutch pack and spring without the right tools is no picnic. Call us and we will talk you through it.
